UNDERSTANDING YOUR SYMPTOMS

Dizziness is a symptom—not a single diagnosis.

Balance depends on coordinated information from the inner ears, eyes, brain, and body. Your evaluation considers what the sensation feels like, how long it lasts, what triggers it, whether hearing or neurological symptoms are present, and how safely you can move. Empower provides focused BPPV assessment and repositioning care; symptoms suggesting another cause may require medical, audiology, or specialty vestibular evaluation.

COMMON SIGNS

Symptoms can show up in more than one way.

Brief spinning when rolling in bed, lying back, or looking up

Unsteadiness while standing, walking, or turning

Dizziness associated with head or position changes

Nausea or a short period of imbalance after a spinning episode

WHAT MAY CONTRIBUTE

The painful area is only part of the picture.

A thorough examination looks at how your symptoms behave, how you move, and what your daily life or sport requires. Common contributors may include:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Clear answers before your first visit.

Do you treat every type of dizziness?+

No. Empower offers focused screening and care for presentations such as BPPV. Dizziness can have many causes, so symptoms that do not fit the available service—or suggest a medical concern—are referred appropriately.

What does BPPV usually feel like?+

BPPV often causes a brief spinning sensation after a specific head-position change, such as rolling in bed or looking upward. Constant dizziness, fainting, or neurological symptoms require a different evaluation.

What is a repositioning maneuver?+

It is a supported sequence of head and body positions intended to move displaced inner-ear particles out of the affected canal. The examination determines whether a maneuver is appropriate and which one to use.

Can BPPV come back?+

Yes. Some people experience another episode later. A recurrence should still be reassessed rather than automatically assumed to be identical to the first episode.
