Pain or stiffness when getting out of bed or standing after sitting
BACK PAIN CARE • ATLANTA
Back pain care built around how you move.
One-on-one evaluation and treatment for low-back pain, stiffness, sciatica, and symptoms that interfere with work, training, sleep, or everyday movement.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR SYMPTOMS
Back pain is common—but your experience is individual.
Back pain may feel sharp, aching, stiff, or difficult to localize. Symptoms can stay near the spine or travel into the buttock or leg. Your evaluation considers symptom behavior, mobility, strength, coordination, training demands, and the movements that matter to you.
COMMON SIGNS
Symptoms can show up in more than one way.
Discomfort with bending, lifting, twisting, or prolonged positions
Pain that travels into the buttock or leg
Reduced confidence with exercise, work, or everyday movement
WHAT MAY CONTRIBUTE
The painful area is only part of the picture.
A thorough examination looks at how your symptoms behave, how you move, and what your daily life or sport requires. Common contributors may include:
- Joint or muscle irritation
- Reduced hip or spinal mobility
- Changes in trunk and hip strength or coordination
- Training-load or work-position changes
- Disc-related or nerve-related irritation
- Recovery after an injury or procedure

Clear answers before your first visit.
Do I need an MRI before physical therapy?+
Not necessarily. Many people can begin with a clinical evaluation. If your history or examination suggests imaging or another medical evaluation is appropriate, that can be discussed with you.
Can you help with sciatica?+
Physical therapy may be appropriate for some people with leg symptoms related to the low back. The first step is determining how your symptoms behave and whether any findings require referral.
Will I receive spinal manipulation?+
Only if it is appropriate for your presentation and you are comfortable with it. Treatment is not based on a one-technique protocol.
How long will recovery take?+
Recovery varies with the cause, duration, irritability, health history, and demands you want to return to. Your plan and expectations are discussed after evaluation.
